Are you a couple looking for a rewarding hospitality role in a stunning coastal location? We are seeking a Cook and a Front of House Team Member to join a friendly café team in the Kingsbridge area, Devon. The café is a popular seaside spot, offering breathtaking views, a relaxed atmosphere, and a menu featuring fish and chips, stone-baked pizzas, burgers, salads, and homemade cakes.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a couple who enjoy working together, love the outdoors, and want to experience life by the sea.

Initial contract: 14th April (TBC) - 30th September 2025Wage: £12.25 per hour, plus an additional 40p per hour for all hours worked between the start date and end of September, if the contract is completed.

The Roles

Front of House Team Member (30-40 hours p/w)

As a key member of the front-of-house team, you will ensure smooth daily operations, excellent customer service, and a great guest experience. While your primary focus is front of house, flexibility to assist in the kitchen during busy periods is beneficial.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Providing a warm, friendly, and efficient service to customers
  • Coordinating front-of-house and takeaway operations
  • Handling customer queries, feedback, and complaints professionally
  • Overseeing daily opening and closing procedures
  • Organising staff shifts and delegating tasks when necessary
  • Maintaining cleanliness and compliance with food safety regulations
  • Managing stock levels and placing orders
  • Monitoring online reviews (TripAdvisor, Google, Facebook) and responding appropriately
  • Collecting content for social media
  • Completing daily reports and cash-up sheets for bookkeeping

Cook (30-40 hours p/w)

As the cook, you will be responsible for preparing and serving a classic seaside menu, ensuring food is fresh, well-presented, and consistently high quality.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Preparing, cooking, and presenting menu items, including fish & chips, pizzas, and burgers
  • Maintaining high standards of hygiene and cleanliness in the kitchen
  • Stock management, ordering, and proper food storage/rotation
  • Keeping kitchen equipment clean and in good working order
  • Completing daily kitchen records, including temperature logs and stock usage
  • Ensuring food safety and allergen awareness compliance
  • Assisting with takeaway service during peak times
  • Working efficiently both independently and as part of a team
  • Collecting content for social media

Who We’re Looking For:

  • A couple who enjoy working together in a busy hospitality environment
  • Friendly, hard-working, and adaptable individuals with a hands-on approach
  • Excellent communication skills and a passion for great customer service
  • Previous experience in hospitality, retail, or food service (preferred but not essential)
  • Ability to work flexible shifts, including weekends and evenings in the summer
  • A clean, professional appearance and a positive attitude
  • A love for coastal living and working in a dynamic setting

Additional Information:

  • The café is on a bus route, but having a car is beneficial
  • Training and support will be provided for both roles
  • Uniform and sensible footwear required
  • During the training period, hours will range from 20-30 per week. Training typically lasts 1-2 weeks. No rent is charged during this period.
