Job Coach - Outstanding Specialist College

Start Date: September

Tempest is thrilled to partner with an Outstanding Specialist College that offers life-changing learning opportunities to young people and adults with a range of special education needs and/or disabilities. Our students have diverse needs, including profound and multiple learning disabilities, communication and behavioural difficulties, and specific medical needs. Each student's learning program is tailored to support and empower them to achieve their aspirations and goals while developing skills to become more independent members of their community.

We are seeking a passionate and motivated Job Coach to join our team. The successful candidate will work closely with our students to prepare them for the workplace, supporting them through a structured internship program and fostering relationships with potential employers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist students in developing job search skills.
  • Support students in work rotations within a host business.
  • Aid in the development of students' functional English and math skills.
  • Guide students towards achieving paid employment.
  • Establish and maintain excellent relationships with potential employers.
  • Advocate for students and facilitate their integration into workplace settings.
  • Actively support students participating in the DFN Project Search supported internship.
  • Monitor and report on student progress throughout the internship.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Experience working with students with SEND or barriers to learning.
  • Proven ability to build networks with external stakeholders.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently.
  • Commitment to empowering students to achieve their employment goals.

Desirable Attributes:

  • Understanding of the challenges faced by individuals with SEND in accessing employment.
  • Previous experience in a coaching or mentoring role.
  • Ability to adapt teaching and support methods to meet individual student needs.
  • Ideally trained in Systematic Instruction or have understanding of this
