The successful candidate will lead the delivery of complex safety systems and defence requirements across numerous platforms. They will be responsible for safety engineering activities following the business safety protocols.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Safety Analysis e.g. HAZOPS, FFA, FTA, FMECA following company safety protocol.
  • Create safety requirements for the system, ensuring system design meets targets.
  • Be able to reasonably convey complex safety issues / improvements to internal and external stakeholders to influence their consideration of safety decisions.
  • Work in collaboration with different disciplines to maximise the highest quality outputs.
  • Support audits at both external and internal design reviews.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience conveying and liaising Systems Safety within the UK Defence industry.
  • Degree/HND/HNC in Safety Management/Engineering/related discipline OR equivalent relevant experience
  • Acknowledgement, knowledge and application of Safety Standards - preferably IEC 61508 and Def Stan 00-056
  • Knowledge of safety assurance of COTS PE based systems or high integrity software
  • Experience with safety/reliability analysis techniques such as FMECA, FTA, FFA and hazard identification and analysis.
  • Understanding and familiarity with tools and techniques used in Risk Assessments
