We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced Construction Lecturer with expertise in multiple trades to join our School of Technical, Construction and Motor Vehicle. This role is crucial for delivering first-class teaching, learning, assessment, and tutorial support to our students, focusing on 16-18 year olds and apprenticeship programmes. The successful candidate will play a key role in curriculum development, employer engagement, and learner skills development, ensuring our students progress and attain high levels of achievement.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Develop and implement innovative teaching, learning, and assessment strategies to enhance student learning and achievement.
  • Act as a Course Leader, setting SMART targets for attendance and punctuality, and taking responsibility for student retention, progress, and success data.
  • Deliver lectures, practical activities, and fieldwork within your area of specialism, and assess student work with constructive feedback.
  • Coordinate and supervise practical work, events, and assessment projects, advising students on techniques.
  • Maintain accurate records associated with teaching and prepare teaching materials.
  • Undertake necessary administrative duties related to examinations, quality assurance, student records, and internal verification.
  • Participate in student recruitment, admissions processes, open evenings, and competitions to develop collaborative college opportunities.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of developments in relevant subjects/courses and develop effective industrial links.
  • Organize and participate in industrial visits, exhibitions, and events relevant to the curriculum.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Higher level qualification in a relevant construction discipline.
  • Proven experience in the construction industry, particularly in multiple trades such as Carpentry, Joinery, Bricklayering, Plumbing, and Electrical Installation.
  • Experience in delivering high-quality teaching and learning in a further education setting.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to engage and inspire students.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and quality improvement.
  • Enhanced DBS check.
