We are seeking a dedicated Biology Lecturer to join our dynamic team at a Further Education establishment. This role focuses on teaching the full-time BTEC Applied Science Level 3 programme, with potential opportunities to contribute to other programmes within the school. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in delivering high-quality education and ensuring outstanding student outcomes.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Deliver engaging and effective lessons as part of the BTEC Applied Science Level 3 programme and potentially other related programmes.
  • Develop and implement student assessment strategies in line with College policies and the requirements of awarding bodies.
  • Monitor student progress, ensuring that all learners meet and exceed their target grades.
  • Maintain high standards of discipline and safety within the classroom, ensuring compliance with College policies.
  • Manage administrative tasks related to teaching, including maintaining registers, records of work, and student progress sheets.
  • Participate in professional development activities to stay current with educational trends and maintain high teaching standards.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to support the development of the School and enhance its reputation.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Degree or professional qualification relevant to Science & IT.
  • Teaching qualification; non-qualified candidates must achieve the Preparing to Teach Award (PTLLS) within one year of employment and the Diploma in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector (DTLLS), including gaining QTLS within five years.
  • Recent participation in staff development activities to update teaching skills.
  • Substantial relevant teaching experience.
  • Excellent teaching skills and a strong commitment to student success.
