Paediatric Occupational Therapist Specialist Practitioner (Band 6)

Location: Kingston & Richmond

Reports to: Team Lead / Clinical Lead

Job Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Paediatric Occupational Therapist to join our multidisciplinary team in Kingston. The successful candidate will provide high-quality assessment, intervention, and support for children with a range of developmental, physical, and sensory needs. This role is integral in promoting independence and enhancing the quality of life for children and their families.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of childrens occupational performance and participation.
  • Develop and implement individualized intervention plans based on assessment findings.
  • Collaborate with families, educators, and other professionals to ensure a holistic approach to care.
  • Provide therapeutic interventions using evidence-based practices, including sensory integration and fine motor skill development.
  • Monitor and evaluate progress, adjusting treatment plans as necessary.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of assessments, interventions, and outcomes.
  • Provide training and support to parents and caregivers to promote skills transfer in daily activities.
  • Participate in case discussions, team meetings, and supervision sessions.
  • Contribute to service development initiatives and quality improvement projects.
  • Keep abreast of current research and best practices in paediatric occupational therapy.

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Occupational Therapy (or equivalent).
  • Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
  • Experience working with children in a clinical or community setting.
  • Knowledge of child development and common paediatric conditions affecting occupational performance.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.

Desired Skills:

  • Specialisation in areas such as sensory processing, neurodevelopmental disorders, or autism spectrum disorders is an advantage.
  • Experience with assistive technology and adaptive equipment.
  • Familiarity with relevant legislation and policies related to childrens services.
