We are working with Acheiving for Children to appoint a Qualified Social Worker to join their Adolescent Safeguarding Team.

About the Service

The Specialist Adolescent Service is within Achieving for Children's Family and Adolescents Directorate. The service delivers statutory social work to young people at risk of contextual harm, ranging from assessments, child in need, child protection to court proceedings; and the statutory multi agency youth justice provision; and Tier 3 young person's substance misuse alongside child sexual exploitation and crime prevention interventions. The service is underpinned by the SHIFT UK practice model of relationship-based, trauma informed and breaking the cycle approaches. The Adolescent Safeguarding Team delivers the statutory social work functions for children and young people identified as requiring an assessment or plan to reduce their risk of harm outside the home. This includes the range of social work from assessments and investigations to child in need, child protection or children in care plans, including court work when required. The team works closely with Police, Health and Education colleagues to ensure a robust multi agency response to young people. The team represents their children at Pre-MACE, Youth Integrated Offenders Management Panel and Missing panel to support timely responses and robust safety planning.

About the role

As an Adolescent Safeguarding Social Worker, you will ensure high levels of quality interventions using AfC's social work practice model, Signs of Safety, agreed quality standards and operating procedures. You will represent AfC at operational multi agency and others meetings as appropriate. You will be responsible for ensuring that adolescents are safeguarded from harm whilst parents and carers of adolescents are supported in their parenting capacity to protect and nurture them whilst ensuring that the public is protected where youth offending is concerned. In all roles across AfC, post holders are expected to develop and lead a culture of partnership and innovation, so that services are child focussed, flexible and adaptable. The whole organisation should learn from mistakes, share knowledge and challenge existing practice.

To be consider for this role you need 2 years post qualified experience in a Children team , ideally along with Adolescent Safeguarding experience.
