Pertemps Dudley are seeking a skilled Conventional Lathe Operative to join our clients team in Dudley. This role involves producing high-quality machined parts by setting up, operating, and tending lathe and turning machines.Key Responsibilities:
  • Study engineering drawings and job orders to determine material requirements and operational sequences.
  • Plan and execute machining activities based on work orders and specifications.
  • Inspect finished workpieces using instruments such as gauges and micrometers to ensure conformance to specifications.
  • Safely lift and position metal stock or workpieces using manual methods or crane hoists.
  • Adjust machine controls to set cutting speeds, depths, and feed rates for optimal machining.
  • Oversee the entire machining process to maintain the highest quality standards.
  • Troubleshoot machining issues to enhance procedural efficiency.
  • Develop and implement tooling and fixing improvement solutions as needed.
  • Complete all required reports and documentation related to machining projects.
  • Perform regular and preventative maintenance on machinery, equipment, and tools.
Experience required:
  • Proven experience operating conventional lathes and turning machines.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documents.
  • Strong understanding of machining processes and tools.
  • Skilled in troubleshooting and maintaining machinery.
  • Commitment to upholding safety and quality standards.
