- Lead, mentor, and support a team of engineers, fostering a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performance work culture.
- Provide coaching, career development, and regular feedback to direct reports.
- Recruit, on-board, and retain top engineering talent.
- Ensure the work of the engineering team is focused on delivering each product’s requirements to the relevant product brief.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define project scope, requirements, and deliverables.
- Ensure engineering projects are delivered on time and on budget
- Drive the team to take ownership of their individual project plans, timelines, and
- priorities to meet deadlines and budget constraints.
- Identify and mitigate risks related to project execution.
- Manage Capital Expenditure requests in line with Programme budgets
- Coordinate the tracking of resource allocation across multiple projects
- Manage contractor engineering resource
- Act as the primary liaison between engineering and other departments, including sales and operations.
- Communicate project status, technical challenges, and progress to senior leadership and stakeholders.
- Foster a culture of open communication, feedback, and problem-solving within the engineering team.
- Liaise with a number of third party suppliers, ensuring service delivery requirements are met
- Drive continuous improvement in engineering processes, methodologies, and tools to enhance productivity and efficiency.
- Promote and enforce strong engineering discipline, including design reviews, testing, and documentation.
- Live and breathe the Group new product development process, driving adoption across a broad range of colleagues and stakeholders
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electronics Engineering. A Master’s degree is a plus.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a multi-disciplinary engineering environment focused on product development and introduction
- Experience in a managerial or leadership role within an engineering team.
- Proven track record of successfully leading technical teams and engineering
- projects under an established programme management governance
- Experience in mentoring and developing engineers at different levels
- Experience of working in a global organisation would be an advantage
- Strong technical background with hands-on experience in mechanical engineering. Mechatronics experience desirable.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong leadership, conflict resolution, and decision-making abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrable experience of driving process adoption across a range of functions.
