Short Break and Direct Payments OfficerLocation: West MidlandsSalary: £26,421 - £28,770 (SCP 12 – SCP 17)Myn is recruiting for a Short Break and Direct Payments Officer on behalf of our long-term client in the West Midlands. This is an exciting opportunity to make a difference in the lives of children with disabilities and their families by managing resources and ensuring they receive the support they need through Direct Payments and Short Break services.What You’ll Do:
  • Support and manage relationships with families accessing Short Breaks and Personal Budgets through the Children with Disabilities Team.
  • Oversee and supervise financial transactions and resource allocations to ensure families can effectively use available services.
  • Contribute to the development and promotion of Direct Payments and Short Break Services, ensuring they align with a child-centred, inclusive approach.
  • Work alongside commissioning leads and external providers to improve access to resources for children with disabilities.
  • Conduct financial reviews of services provided through Direct Payments to ensure they meet the needs of the children.
  • Manage the administration of Direct Payments, including ensuring DBS checks for Personal Assistants and supporting parents with managed or devolved accounts.
  • Collaborate with health and SEN teams to ensure Personal Budgets meet the assessed needs of children.
  • Prepare reports, maintain records, and ensure the effectiveness of Short Break provision.
What We’re Looking For:
  • Significant experience working in a related field, ideally within children's services or SEND.
  • Experience in financial administration and managing Direct Payments.
  • Strong partnership working skills, with the ability to collaborate with colleagues, external partners, and service users.
  • Knowledge of SEND policies and promoting independence and resilience for children and young adults.
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and time management skills, with the ability to handle multiple priorities under pressure.
  • Competence in IT, particularly Microsoft Excel, and the ability to use social care records and data systems.
