Role overviewWe are currently recruiting for a Head of Operations for our site in Dudley. The position of this role in ASD LTD is pivotal in promoting consistent progress in safety, quality, timely delivery, productivity, and optimal use of resources, utilising lean manufacturing techniques, and implementing best-in-class supply chain and logistics operations. The individual in this role will have the responsibility of overseeing the daily manufacturing and production activities, effectively blending practical and strategic operational abilities to engage and manage the production teams within the Dudley Flat Bed and Tube laser site. The ultimate objective is to achieve financial goals, prioritise employee safety, control expenses, and cater to the customers' requirements while adhering to all compliance regulations.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • To manage the business to achieve financial budget and stretch targets.
  • Overall responsibility for the safe and efficient day-to-day manufacturing operation.
  • Ensure that all employees are effectively managed within the framework of ASD’s policies and procedures; particularly relating to health and safety, training, absence management, performance management, discipline, and compliance.
  • Monitor the efficiency of operation and drive performance improvement. Sets SMART objectives in line with strategic goals and ensures targets are achieved by tracking improvement actions and relevant KPIs.
  • Manage asset utilisation, production planning, and capacity management processes
  • Drive customer responsiveness by reduction of manufacturing cycle times and set-up times
  • Drive elimination of waste to improve Quality yield, Machine downtime, and production losses
  • Effective control and management of the despatch processes
  • Ensures customer requirements are satisfied by making sure that activities are correctly prioritised and resourced.
  • To develop employees and form a succession plan for the business.
  • Continuously measure performance against objectives and ensure that team members are appraised.
  • Support all business units of ASD as a centre of excellence
  • Responsible for activities of approximately 130 employees
  • Responsible for a budget expenditure of up to £7 million.
