Mechanical Build Engineer

To fit / assemble machine unit assemblies such as Spindles, Clamps, Automation, Lubrication, Pneumatics, Hydraulics, and other mechanical sub assemblies, then fit / assemble units within the general assembly of the friction welding machine from the use of assembly drawings and schematics. To liaise with the build supervisor to make sure that each machine unit/build is on time to the machine build schedule, on spec to assembly and mechanical specifications of the machine, on budget to the estimated hours for each sub assembly. Be a part of my clients company initiative of upfront planning, through a series of meetings prior to the project build phase on the release of each unit from the design phase. Review and voice any concerns on each design and also identify all materials required to support the Mechanical build sequence.

Primary Responsibilities and Essential Functions

  • Fitting / assembly of various unit assemblies using assembly drawings.
  • Read Hydraulic, Lubrication & Pneumatic Schematics.
  • Installation of Hydraulic, Lubrication & Pnuematic systems.
  • Communicate any problems with parts to build & engineering department.
  • Onsite installation / upgrades / break downs of machinery at customers premises UK & Worldwide.
  • Communicate with customers in a professional and knowledgeable manner.
  • Inspect parts from a drawing using various inspection equipment.
  • Operate machine shop equipment such as Miller, Lather, Surface grinder ect.
  • Continuously reviews/improves engineering processes.
  • Contributes to this companies Upfront planning initiative.
  • Helps develop strategies and processes to ensure on-time delivery of equipment, cost reduction opportunities and performance improvements.
  • Promotes cultural values and behaviour in others (Respectful, Purposeful, Integrity, Collaborative, Adaptable, Positive Attitude, Excellence, Effective Communication.
  • Occasionally supports this companies Subcontract department with machine break downs and machine operations.
  • Perform other assignments, as requested by supervisor or manager.

  • Ability to read mechanical drawings and fluid schematics and understand dimensional tolerances.
  • Mechanical and machining proficiency.
