Prospero Teaching are working with an SEN school based in Dudley who are looking for a caring, compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to become part of a team supporting pupils with complex needs.If you are someone who is experienced and motivated to help pupils with autism, communication difficulties, sensory needs, and emotional challenges, this could be the perfect role for you.About the Role:As an SEN Teaching Assistant you will be working with pupils who have a wide range of complex needs, including:

  • Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
  • Severe learning disabilities
  • Emotional and behavioural challenges
  • Physical disabilities
  • Medical conditions requiring specialist care

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting Individual Learning: Working 1-1 with students, you ll provide support based on each childs specific needs, helping them to understand lessons and participate in activities.
  • Assisting with Communication Needs: Many of our students have speech and language difficulties, so you'll help them to communicate effectively using a variety of strategies.
  • Supporting Behavioural and Emotional Needs: Some students may experience emotional challenges, and you'll help to manage behaviour in a positive and constructive way.
  • Assisting with Sensory Needs: You may support students who need sensory breaks or help in creating a sensory-friendly environment that promotes focus and comfort.
  • Supporting Personal Care: Some of our students may require assistance with personal care.
  • Collaborating with the Team: You ll work closely with teachers and other support staff to monitor students progress and share information about their development, ensuring their needs are met across all areas of school life.What Were Looking For:
  • Experience working with children with complex needs is essential. You must have worked in a similar school, care setting, or in a role that involved supporting children with autism, sensory needs, or learning difficulties.
  • A patient, understanding, and flexible approach is key. You'll need to be adaptable to the unique needs of each child and be ready to provide the tailored support they require.
  • A positive and proactive attitude - You'll be expected to think on your feet and adapt to new challenges every day.
  • Strong communication skills, especially with students who may have limited verbal communication. Being able to communicate clearly and use alternative communication methods is important.
