Excellent opportunity for an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to join a well-established company

We are recruiting for an Electrical Design Engineer to start as soon as possible, based in Kington, Herefordshire. The role will also require some site attendance to ongoing projects mainly in the Welsh Water and Severn Trent areas. You will be working for a well-known and well-respected electrical installation company that employ around 50 staff. The company specialises in the installation of LV and ELV electrical systems for the water and waste-water sector. As an Electrical Design Engineer, you will assist the Design Manager and Project Managers in the design and delivery of projects, co-ordinate your designs with the other disciplines, attend design and relevant client meetings and attend internal CPD's. You will be responsible for planning your own time and to keep a track of hours logged on each project, versus the allocated fees given to the project within the tender process. You will also actively look at securing repeat business from existing clients by ensuring all your designs meet the clients’ brief, achieved by gaining a thorough knowledge of client specifications/British Standards and working efficiently to represent good value for money to the client. You will also be responsible for compiling "As Built" documentation, O&M information and verification of electrical test certificates.

Essential Skills/Qualifications

  • Experience of Three-phase and Single-phase LV electrical systems
  • Good awareness of 18th Edition and British Standards
  • Able to work as part of a team to achieve common goals
  • Good communications skills including excellent written and spoken English

Desirable Skills

  • Currently working as an Electrical Design Engineer
  • Able to use Amtech and AutoCAD LT to produce calculations, coordinated drawings and layouts
  • Able to read and understand mechanical and electrical drawings and overview of electronic schematics
  • HNC in Electrical Engineering or similar discipline
  • Familiar with 3D BIM Modelling (AutoCAD 3D/Revit)
  • Familiar with data communications (Profibus, Profinet)
  • Familiar with ATEX installations
