Job Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and talented Senior Chef to lead our kitchen team at The Green Hotel. The Senior Chef will oversee all kitchen operations, ensuring the preparation of dishes, managing kitchen staff, and maintaining a clean and organized environment. This role demands a creative culinary professional who is passionate about food, leadership, and maintaining exceptional standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Kitchen Management:
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the kitchen, ensuring smooth workflows.
- Supervise, train, and mentor junior kitchen staff, ensuring they adhere to food preparation standards and hygiene protocols.
- Manage kitchen inventory, ordering supplies as necessary, and minimizing food waste.
- Ensure the kitchen meets all health, safety, and sanitation standards.
- Maintain a high standard of food quality, taste, and presentation.
- Menu Planning & Development:
- Collaborate with management to develop new and innovative menu items.
- Monitor food trends, incorporating new ideas into the menu.
- Adjust menu items based on seasonal ingredients and customer preferences.
- Ensure consistency in food quality across all shifts.
- Cost Control & Budgeting:
- Help manage food costs and maintain budgetary guidelines for kitchen operations.
- Ensure efficient use of kitchen resources and staff to maximize profitability.
- Track and analyze food costs and waste to optimize kitchen operations.
- Quality Control:
- Ensure the highest quality of food is prepared at all times, meeting customer expectations.
- Oversee the plating and presentation of dishes to meet the restaurant's standards.
- Monitor the preparation of food to ensure it meets both taste and visual standards.
- Leadership & Staff Coordination:
- Lead by example, fostering a positive and productive kitchen environment.
- Schedule kitchen staff and assign tasks for efficient kitchen operations.
- Conduct staff training on cooking techniques, safety protocols, and kitchen operations.
- Customer Interaction:
- Occasionally interact with guests to gather feedback and ensure satisfaction with the food.
- Address any special dietary requirements or allergies when preparing dishes.
- Handle customer complaints or issues related to food preparation in a professional manner.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Senior Chef or in a similar culinary leadership role.
- Extensive knowledge of culinary techniques, kitchen equipment, and food safety standards.
- Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to manage and motivate a team.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and maintain a calm, focused demeanour during busy periods.
- Creativity in developing new menu items and adapting to food trends.
- Culinary degree or equivalent formal training preferred.
- Knowledge of inventory management and cost control techniques.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
