Due to continued growth and success New Resource Recruitment have the pleasure of recruiting an experienced Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join their team based in Kirkby in Ashfield.

You will be required to provide a comprehensive mechanical and tooling service that ensures optimal asset integrity and productivity, contributing to increased availability and reliability, reduced costs and risks, and improved profitability.

Key Responsibilities:

Asset Care & Maintenance:

  • Ensure 98% availability of manufacturing equipment through the implementation of the latest maintenance techniques.
  • Diagnose and correct faults in a timely manner, ensuring minimal downtime.
  • Deliver machine performance improvement projects, including design changes to eliminate repetitive faults. Support the development of colleagues by providing guidance on complex fault diagnosis.

Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSHE) Compliance:

  • Ensure compliance with HSHE standards across departmental activities, contractors, and assets.
  • Conduct regular audits to ensure adherence to safety and environmental protocols.

Project Management:

  • Collaborate with Development Engineers and other team members on project teams to drive improvements in machine performance.
  • Identify and introduce new technology into the business, working closely with equipment suppliers on specifications and acceptance.
  • Implement technical improvements to enhance machine performance and reliability.

Quality Management:

  • Maintain and manage effective quality management systems, ensuring compliance with ISO9000 and ISO14001 standards.
  • Ensure all drawings, specifications, and procedures are up to date and adhered to.
  • Evaluate and introduce new technologies to the business, maintaining a high awareness of technological advancements.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Promote a continuous improvement culture within the team and the wider business.
  • Utilise engineering standards and best practices such as RCM and Six Sigma to drive improvements.

Key Performance Indicators:

  • Achievement of departmental KPIs and annual objectives.
  • Successful delivery of projects within set timescales and budget.
  • Compliance with the Asset Care program audits and reporting of results.
  • Adherence to annual departmental budgets.
  • Compliance with internal HSHEQ audits and external ISO audits.
  • Positive customer feedback with low levels of complaints.

Required Qualifications and Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience managing maintenance activity, preferably in a packaging products environment.
  • IOSH Managing Safely certification or equivalent.
  • Experience with injection moulding technology (essential) and blow moulding technology (preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of engineering standards and best practices (e.g. RCM, Six Sigma Green Belt).
  • IT literate with proficiency in MS Office and CAD systems.
