Requirements:

  • Qualifications: SVQ 2/3 in Social Services and Healthcare or equivalent level qualification to enable registration with the SSSC. 
  • Experience: At least 2 years’ experience in social care for Older People’s Services is essential; experience in a management or supervisory role is desirable. Transferable and adaptable skills would be beneficial. Must have the ability to manage workloads. Previous experience in working with Dementia. Experience in managing accidents / incidents. Working with medication systems, managing sick absence, moving and handling and reporting to Health Professionals and Care inspectorate where applicable. Must have the ability to support residents with all aspects of daily life, including personal care, food and nutrition and personal hygiene. 
  • Essential Key Skills: Strong People Management Skills: Proven ability to lead, support, and address challenges presented by care staff effectively. Skilled in directing and supporting team members, ensuring high standards of care and performance. Demonstrated proficiency in creating detailed and accurate reports, maintaining comprehensive records. Adept at monitoring staff performance and practices, serving as a positive role model. An In-depth understanding of Adult Support and Protection protocols and procedures 
  • Travel: There will be arrangements for accommodation costs and travel costs by ferry to and from Orkney.
