Role Overview:

Our client, Thalia, is seeking a dedicated SCADA Operative to oversee the daily operations of the Mechanical Treatment (MT) Plant. The role requires experience in the waste industry and familiarity with operating mobile plant and MT plant systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate the SCADA system to control the Mechanical Treatment plant.
  • Conduct daily walkarounds and monitor CCTV to ensure the highest Health & Safety standards.
  • Promptly report all Health & Safety or Environmental concerns.
  • Ensure adherence to the company’s Health & Safety and Environmental Policies at all times.
  • Monitor plant operations and adjust settings to meet business KPIs.
  • Maintain accurate daily reporting logs.
  • Perform Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPMs) as required.
  • Ensure Safe Systems of Work (SSOW) are followed.
  • Provide coverage for the MT Supervisor during leave.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external contractors to ensure smooth operations.

Internal:

  • AWRP Operations, Maintenance, STL, and Weighbridge Teams

External:

  • 3rd Party Contractors
  • 3rd Party Hauliers

Reporting To:

  • Mechanical Treatment Supervisor

Person Requirements:

Qualifications (Desirable but Not Essential):

  • Mobile plant certification (e.g., FLT)
  • First Aid at Work certification
  • Harness Awareness
  • IPAF certification for 3A/3B

On-the-job training will be provided where required.

Skills:
  • Proficiency in computer-based systems, such as Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to monitor plant performance and adjust speed settings.
  • Understanding of mobile plant and machinery operation/maintenance.
  • Flexibility to adapt and learn new roles.
Experience:
  • Previous experience in the waste industry, operating mobile and mechanical treatment plants.
Behavioural Competencies:
  • Strong team player with a willingness to help others.
  • Eagerness to learn new skills.
  • Excellent organizational and communication abilities.
Technical Competencies:
  • Understanding of complex plant/machinery operations.
  • Familiarity with weighbridge operations.
  • Ability to record data accurately and produce detailed reports.
