Bench Fitter

Knaresborough, permanent, 13.65 p/h, 39 hours per week, early finish on a Friday

Bench Fitter role available for a growing engineering business in the Knaresborough area. We are very interested to hear from people who are passionate about engineering, have completed an engineering level 2 or 3 or HNC/HND, qualification, and are now looking for their first role. The role has become available due to an internal promotion; the company are committed to developing and investing in their staff and would be willing to offer training for the right candidate. The role offers the opportunity of progressing to CNC machining long term and to develop into different areas of the business.

The role:

  • Fitting mechanical parts and components safely and according to company procedures
  • Finishing machined components to precision tolerances
  • Reading and working from drawings and diagrams to construct components to the required quality standards
  • Working with hand tools including linishers, verniers, calipers and gauges
  • Loading parts into jigs and fixtures
  • Finishing items using sand and bead blasters to a high standard to ensure the quality of the product
  • Accurately measuring parts and components
  • Learning all workshop tasks as needed

The Person:

  • Passionate about engineering and ideally hold level 2 or 3, HNC or HND qualification however, this is not essential if you have previous work experience in a similar environment
  • Have an understanding of finishing parts including assembly, deburring and bead blasting
  • Strong attention to detail to ensure items are finished to a high standard
  • Able to work as part of a team in order to ensure that components are manufactured correctly
  • Knowledge of working with a range of bench tools safely and effectively and the ability to take accurate measurements
  • Able to meet deadlines by following defined plans and goals
  • Enthusiastic and keen to learn
