Lean Engineer

Knaresborough, up to 50k, bonus, generous pension, life cover, 25 days holiday

Experienced Lean Six Sigma Engineer required for an exciting and challenging lead role working in a demanding manufacturing environment.

Working for a first-tier automotive manufacturer you will be responsible for implementing new and innovative solutions to improve processes, minimise waste, and apply lean principles across the business.

The Lean Engineer role:

  • Identify problems and lead improvement projects (waste, working practices, and production)
  • Observe and analyse production processes and logistics and put in place improvements
  • Create new Lean Manufacturing standards.
  • Define methods of change
  • Develop a Lean Manufacturing culture within Production teams
  • Implement progress plans
  • Guide teams through process changes and coordinate the deployment of new systems and lean tools on-site
  • Assist with the creation and development of improvement plans relating to plant performance
  • Manage and organise work groups and workshops, giving guidance and associated training
  • Define the training needs on the site for deployment and improvements

The Person:

  • Hold a relevant manufacturing or engineering degree
  • Ideally have worked in Automotive manufacturing
  • Be fully conversant with Kaizen, Kanban, 5S, 5Whys, and Value Stream Mapping
  • Hold or working toward Black Belt
  • Be a confident communicator able to work with people at all levels and obtain vital information
  • Be persuasive and a good negotiator able to get people onside quickly to resolve issues
  • Have the ability to deliver training and empower teams
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to drive process improvements
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to mentor and train staff
  • Can work under pressure and is keen to learn and proactive
  • Have a comprehensive knowledge of production flows and ERP systems
  • Be able to present and discuss your ideas confidently to both operational and management teams
  • Confident knowledge of Health and Safety Legislation & Best Practice
