Maintenance Engineer, Knaresborough

Role Overview
W Talent is currently recruiting for a Maintenance Engineer on behalf of our client, a leading manufacturing company in Knaresborough, North Yorkshire. This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled engineer to join a dynamic and supportive team that is committed to ensuring the optimal performance of machinery and equipment. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting preventative maintenance, attending breakdowns, and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide maintenance cover as part of a rotating three-shift pattern (6am-2pm, 2pm-10pm, 10pm-6am) and participate in weekend maintenance on a rotational basis (one in every six weekends).
- Ensure all site equipment is maintained to a high standard, minimizing downtime, and ensuring operational efficiency.
- Perform Total Preventative Maintenance (TPM) activities according to schedule and in a timely manner.
- Respond swiftly to equipment breakdowns and carry out necessary repairs to restore production as quickly as possible.
- Diagnose recurring faults and implement long-term solutions to prevent reoccurrence.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant Health & Safety regulations and site safety protocols.
- Maintain accurate records of spare parts usage and maintenance activities using SAP.
- Work collaboratively with the wider Engineering Team to resolve technical issues and improve overall maintenance practices.
- Develop and implement Continuous Improvement projects to enhance the efficiency and longevity of machinery.
- Liaise with production teams to schedule maintenance during planned downtime, minimizing disruption.
Technical Skills & Experience Required
- Relevant engineering or maintenance-related training and certifications preferred.
- Ability to carry out planned maintenance activities during scheduled plant shutdowns.
- Confidence with the installation and commissioning of new machinery and equipment.
- Electrical or Mechanical fault-finding and repair.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
- Proficiency in using computer-based systems for logging maintenance activities.
- Experience with hydraulic and pneumatic fault-finding.
- Manufacturing, Chemical, Fabrication, Welding, or FMCG background experience.
- Previous experience using SAP for maintenance records and inventory management.
