Mechanical Supervisor

Harrogate, £46000pa

We seek a candidate with a confident background in commercial mechanical maintenance for a public sector role in Harrogate.

You will hold responsibility for the maintenance and upkeep of mechanical engineering services leading a multi skilled team to ensure PPM's and repairs are completed effectively to schedule.

The role

*Overseeing a multiskilled of team including Mechanical, Electrical, building trade, maintenance assistants and painters and decorators

*Planning and allocation of work on the FM system in line with maintenance schedule

*Hands off with a responsibility to help with major breakdowns, cover periods of sickness, absence and holidays and providing technical guidance

*Ensuring the cost effective and efficient operation of all plant, equipment and services

*Preparing a range on reports e.g response time analysis and compliance.

*Managing contractors, trade and direct operational staff including performance management, recruitment, grievance and disciplinary matters.

*Managing and improving the PPM schedule

*Managing apprenticeships, learning and general staff training programmes

*Hands on diagnosis of engineering faults and initiating repairs

*Ensuring H & S, COSHH, Manual Handling, CDM requirements are adhered to within the department, undertaking tools box talks, audits ect

*Carrying out investigations into engineering failures of plant, services or equipment

*Preparing feasibility and cost estimates and providing effective financial control of schemes.

*Purchasing, storage and use of materials and equipment

*on call 1 in 6 weeks

The Person:

*Degree Level Education and/or HNC qualification in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.

*Asbestos Awareness qualification

*Have previous experience of working within a large commercial environment

*Have confident management experience and the ability to lead, train and motivate a multi disciplined team

*Be familiar with planning and allocation of work, managing deadlines and dealing with major breakdown incidents

*Have a proven background in implanting successful improvements into the maintenance team

*Have worked with a computerised FM system previously

*Ideally have some understanding of electrical system integration and other trades
