Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of children with additional needs? We are seeking a dedicated and nurturing SEN Teaching Assistant to join a supportive Primary School in Knaresborough, starting Easter or just after.

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work on a 1:1 basis with a Year 3 student with ASD and ADHD, providing tailored support both in-class and during specific activities outside of class time. The role will involve encouraging the student's development, helping with behaviour management, and de-escalating situations as they arise. The ideal candidate will have experience with special educational needs, a calm and caring nature, and the ability to follow direction from the class teacher and other staff members.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 support to a Year 3 student with ASD and ADHD
  • Assist with accessing the curriculum and school activities
  • Manage behaviour and implement strategies to de-escalate challenging situations
  • Support the student both in class and outside of the classroom when necessary
  • Work collaboratively with the class teacher and other professionals to ensure the student's needs are met
  • Be patient, nurturing, and proactive in your approach

Ideal Candidate:

  • Experience supporting children with ASD and ADHD
  • Strong behaviour management skills
  • Nurturing, calm, and patient approach
  • Ability to de-escalate situations and support emotional regulation
  • Ability to take direction and work well as part of a team
