ON CALL MACHINE MAINTENANCE ENGINEER

To support our growth and increasing production demands, we are currently seeking to recruit a highly motivated and pro-active individual to join our Engineering Department as a On Call Machine Maintenance Engineer at our West Yorkshire site in Knottingley.

Reporting to the Engineering Team Leader you will be responsible for the maintenance and repair of glass forming machines within our Hot End Production Department, ensuring equipment achieves maximum efficiency and manufacturing performance. Working in a small team you will also be responsible for the cleaning, checking, repairing, and refurbishing of spares to ensure availability and minimise downtime. The role is also responsible for the provision of an on-call service to rectify and eliminate equipment faults and failures and minimise machine downtime, via a committed rota (one week in four), covering 365 days per year. This on-call provision will commence after familiarisation of the site and machinery.

Suitable candidates should be fully apprentice-trained and possess a good level of Maths and English, together with excellent problem-solving skills. You should also be enthusiastic and committed, with a pro-active and flexible approach to work. The ability to work well under pressure and prioritise your workload is also essential, as well as the ability to communicate effectively at all levels. Previous knowledge of working within a glass manufacture plant and/or 24-hour process environment would be an advantage, however not essential.

This is a day position, working 40 hours per week, 6.00am to 2.00pm Monday to Friday, however, there is an element of flexibility required for this role and as such these may change from time to time to suit factory needs. In addition, you will be required to be on call one week in four.
