Mechanical Engineer (On Call)

Location: Knottingley
Salary: £37,500 + Additional on call pay per call out
Hours:

  • 3 weeks: 6AM – 2PM (standard shift)
  • 1 week on-call: 10AM – 6PM shift

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure full compliance with company health and safety policies.
  • Strong knowledge of pneumatics, hydraulics, conveyors, drivers, belts, pumps, and gearboxes.
  • Experience with fault finding, troubleshooting, and preventative maintenance.
  • Familiarity with servo drives (desirable but not essential).
  • Conduct routine servicing and urgent repairs on production machinery, plant, and equipment.
  • Fault Find, diagnose and resolve mechanical issues to minimize downtime.
  • Support new equipment installation and process improvements.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of all maintenance and repair work.
  • Provide emergency mechanical assistance during on-call shifts.

About You:

  • Proven background in mechanical maintenance within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, conveyors and fault-finding techniques.
  • Time-served apprenticeship or relevant mechanical engineering qualifications.
  • Problem-solving mindset, teamwork and adaptability.
