About the Functional / Automated Software Tester Role:

As a Functional / Automated Software Tester, you'll be pivotal in delivering high-quality software products. Combining manual testing expertise with automation skills, you'll design and execute tests, identify and document issues, and collaborate closely with development teams to resolve them. You'll also contribute to ongoing quality improvement initiatives and stay at the forefront of testing best practices.

Please note, this is an office-based role located in Cheshire, so applicants should be prepared to work on-site full-time.

Key Responsibilities as the Functional / Automated Software Tester:

  • Design, develop, and execute comprehensive test plans, cases, and scripts.
  • Perform manual and automated testing to validate software functionality and performance.
  • Identify, report, and manage software defects using appropriate tools.
  • Conduct regression testing to confirm issue resolution.
  • Collaborate with development and QA teams to refine testing strategies.
  • Utilise tools such as Postman for API testing, ensuring API reliability, performance, and security.
  • Stay current with the latest testing tools and industry trends.

What you'll bring as the Functional / Automated Software Tester:

Essential Skills:

  • Proven experience in manual and automation testing.
  • Strong knowledge of software testing methodologies and best practices.
  • Familiarity with API testing using tools like Postman.
  • Ability to create and execute API test scripts.
  • Effective problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
  • A collaborative approach and adaptability to dynamic requirements.

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience with automation tools such as Selenium, Appium, or similar.
  • Familiarity with tools like SoapUI or RestAssured for API testing.
  • Knowledge of API authentication, security, and performance testing.
  • ISTQB or similar software testing certifications.
  • Experience with agile methodologies and the software development life-cycle.
  • Hands-on experience using Xray for Jira for managing test plans and executions.
