Morson Talent are currently looking to recruit an Assistant Health & Safety Engineer (HSE) to join our clients dynamic team within the Nuclear Power Engineering and Technical Services division in the Dunbar area. This is a fantastic opportunity for a motivated individual to develop their career in a challenging and rewarding environment, working on key projects across the UKs nuclear fleet.

About the Role:

As an Assistant HSE Engineer, you will provide crucial leadership on health and safety matters, fostering a proactive and positive safety culture across site project teams. You will play a key role in supporting the implementation of health, safety, and environmental systems, ensuring best practices are consistently applied. In this role, you will monitor the effectiveness of safety management processes and support the continual improvement of health and safety performance within projects.

This position offers a chance to work as part of a highly supportive and collaborative team, with regular interaction with senior project stakeholders. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on diverse projects, and some business travel may be required to support other sites across the UK.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide guidance and support to local site management teams on HSE matters and assist in implementing health, safety, and environmental plans.
Develop and implement project-specific health and safety procedures, ensuring compliance with statutory regulations.
Support compliance with the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations (CDM) by aiding in the development of pre-construction information and health & safety plans.
Assist in contractor management, including reviewing risk assessments, method statements, and overseeing contractors' work on-site.
Deliver project-specific safety inductions and contribute to monthly HSE performance reporting.
Conduct HSE site walks, report findings, and make recommendations for improvements.
Support accident investigations, reporting, and ensuring corrective actions are implemented.
Collaborate with other safety engineers to share best practices and introduce new safety initiatives.
Qualifications and Experience Required:

HNC in a relevant technical discipline or equivalent.
A strong understanding of CDM Regulations.
Minimum NEBOSH General Certificate, Construction Certificate or NVQ Level 3 in Occupational Health and Safety. A National Diploma is desirable.
IOSH Membership (desirable).
IEMA Foundation Certificate in Environmental Management.
Proven experience as a Health & Safety Professional in a project environment, ideally within a highly regulated industry.
Experience in contractor management and accident investigation.
