Due to continued growth our client is recruiting an Estimator for a permanent position based in Lanarkshire.

Reporting to the Director your role will be responsible for calculating costs for reactive and installation projects and prepare quotations for clients.

This role is to work closely with an established technical sales estimator so would suit someone who has a little technical estimating experience or an engineer looking to move off the tools and into an estimating role as well as an experienced Estimator.

Responsibilities

  • Understanding the scope and specifications of a project by reviewing drawings, specifications, and other engineers documentation.
  • Estimating the costs of materials, labour, equipment, and other expenses. This involves determining quantities and pricing each component to produce a comprehensive cost estimate.
  • Compiling detailed and itemised estimates that outline the total project cost.
  • Preparing and submitting bids or quotations to potential clients or contractors. This process may involve competitive bidding, where the estimator must ensure their bid is both competitive and profitable.
  • Working closely with directors, engineers, and clients to ensure all aspects of the project are understood and accurately reflected in the estimate.
  • Identifying potential risks and uncertainties in the project and including appropriate contingencies in the estimate to mitigate these risks.
  • Assisting in cost control and management throughout the project by comparing actual costs to estimated costs and identifying any variances.
  • Revising estimates as project details change or as additional information becomes available, ensuring that cost projections remain accurate and up-to-date.
  • Maintaining thorough records of all estimates, bids, and project documentation for future reference and auditing purposes.
  • Keeping abreast of market trends, material costs, labour rates, compliance, and other factors that can affect the accuracy of cost estimates.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Experience within a similar position.
  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient IT skills.
  • Experience in the Construction, Facilities Management, Water Treatment, Electrical or Mechanical industry.
