Principal Mechanical Engineer

Barrow-in-Furness

Monday to Friday Days only (8 hour shifts)

£45,000 - £64,000 + Excellent benefits package, car allowance and overtime available!

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Principal Mechanical Engineer, to join a large global manufacturer on a permanent basis. This is a days based role, working sociable hours Monday to Friday. The Principal Mechanical Engineer will be required to lead a team of engineers, mentoring and coaching and creating an engaging working environment. I am searching for someone who has a logical and methodical approach and can be relied upon to see the job through to the end. The successful Principal Mechanical Engineer will be a natural problem solver, tenacious and will use creativity, innovation, and an analytical approach to exhaust all options until a solution is found. A proactive attitude with a flair for quick and efficient learning which equips you well to adapt to the latest technologies.

The role also involves the following duties:

  • Transfer in depth technical knowledge of mechanical equipment and systems, eg Pumps, Motors, Gearboxes, Transmission Systems, Steam Generation and Lifting equipment
  • Complete hands on planned and reative maintenance across the site, as well as leading work on any ongoing and upcoming projects. The company has heavily invested into this site and the company have a strong pipeline of project work!
  • Lead root cause failure analysis and 4 step problem solving. Ensure actions are completed, closed out and shared with relevant parties.

Requirements for the Principal Mechanical Engineer:

  • Mechanical Bias
  • Degree level or apprentice trained with excellent experience
  • Able to mentor / train members of the team
  • Heavy manufacturing background
  • Knowledge of SAP computerised maintenance systems and processes.
  • Proven knowledge and experience of initiating and implementing continuous improvements
