Are you an experienced Tooling Design Engineer looking for an exciting opportunity to work on cutting-edge aerospace projects? We are seeking a skilled professional to join our team in supporting the manufacture of detail and assembly manufacturing components for the Typhoon Major Units and Final Assembly build lines.



Job Role:

The primary responsibility of this role is to identify and design tooling solutions that ensure an exacting design standard. The successful candidate will work closely with various engineering and design teams to develop fit-for-purpose tooling designs.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Liaise with design and engineering organizations to provide design-for-manufacture input.

  • Scheme and design tooling solutions.

  • Work with different data streams (design data, PTS's, etc.) to ensure effective designs.

  • Collaborate with planning engineers and Subject Matter Experts to develop cohesive tool designs and manufacturing solutions.

  • Apply geometric dimensioning and tolerancing principles to achieve component interchangeability (ICY).

  • Ensure compliance with Health & Safety requirements and regulations.

  • Participate in design reviews to demonstrate compliance with component design requirements.

  • Adhere to local manufacturing procedures and standard parts.

  • Identify opportunities for product quality improvements and cost savings.

  • Capture and implement engineering and design changes for components and tools.

  • Provide guidance on tool assembly, machining, and treatment processes.



Required Skills & Qualifications:



Essential:

  • HNC or higher qualification or a recognized apprenticeship with experience in tool design.

  • Tool design and manufacturing experience in the aerospace or equivalent industry.

  • Knowledge of detail and assembly manufacturing processes.

  • Manufacturing engineering experience in the aerospace or equivalent industry.

  • Computer literacy with proficiency in standard office IT packages.

  • Familiarity with engineering toolsets such as CATIA V5, PLM, SAP CAM, SFM, CDP, and VAS.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills across multiple organizational levels.

  • Ability to manage unplanned events and meet tight deadlines.
