Job Title: KS2 PPA Teacher, Part-Time, 3 Days a Week

Location: LANCASTER

Reports to: Head Teacher and KS2 Lead

Start: ASAP, ongoing.

Job Purpose

To provide high-quality teaching across Key Stage 2 classes during PPA (Planning, Preparation, and Assessment) time, supporting the curriculum needs and maintaining the school's standards of excellence. The KS2 PPA teacher will cover for teachers during their allocated PPA periods, delivering engaging, structured lessons in line with school and national standards.

Key Responsibilities

Classroom Teaching:

  • Deliver pre-planned lessons across various subjects for KS2 classes.
  • Engage and support students in learning activities, adapting lessons to meet their diverse needs.
  • Manage classroom behaviour effectively to create a positive learning environment.
  • Follow the curriculum, ensuring that each lesson aligns with school goals and objectives.
  • Curriculum Support:
  • Work closely with KS2 teachers and subject leaders to understand lesson objectives and ensure consistency across teaching.
  • Adapt and modify lesson plans as needed to cater to students with varying abilities.
  • Utilize resources and materials provided by class teachers to maintain continuity in learning.

Student Assessment and Reporting:

  • Assess student progress during lessons, providing feedback and tracking development.
  • Record observations and achievements to pass along to the main classroom teachers.
  • Support the school's assessment processes by contributing to formative and summative assessments as required.

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Communicate regularly with class teachers and KS2 Lead to ensure continuity in student learning and address any needs or concerns.
  • Participate in team meetings, professional development, and other school activities as required.
  • Foster positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents, upholding the school's values and ethos.

Professional Development:

  • Participate in professional development opportunities relevant to the KS2 curriculum and PPA role.
  • Stay updated with current teaching practices, educational developments, and school policies.

Essential Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with experience in Key Stage 2 teaching.
  • Proven experience in planning, delivering, and assessing lessons at the KS2 level.
  • Strong classroom management skills with a positive approach to behavior management.
  • Knowledge of the KS2 National Curriculum and understanding of age-appropriate pedagogy.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work as part of a team.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Working Hours:

  • Part-time, 3 days a week (Monday to Wednesday, some flexibility)

Salary:

  • In line with LCC current teaching pay scale
