About the Role:

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Pastoral HLTA to join a supportive team in a local primary school in Lancaster. This role is crucial in providing pastoral care to pupils, ensuring their emotional well-being, behaviour, and academic progress are supported effectively. The successful candidate will work closely with teachers, parents, and external agencies to create a nurturing and inclusive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide pastoral support to students, addressing emotional, social, and behavioural needs.
  • Work with pupils on a one-to-one basis and in small groups to promote well-being and resilience.
  • Support attendance, behaviour management, and safeguarding initiatives.
  • Act as a key contact for pupils experiencing challenges and liaise with families to provide support.
  • Deliver intervention sessions to promote positive mental health and emotional regulation.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of behaviour support plans.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers to identify pupils in need of additional pastoral care.
  • Maintain accurate records of pupil progress, interventions, and safeguarding concerns.

Person Specification:

  • Experience working in a pastoral or HLTA role within a school setting.
  • A strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection policies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents.
  • Ability to manage behaviour positively and support pupils with emotional challenges.
  • A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach to working with young people.
  • HLTA qualification or equivalent experience is desirable.
