Polytec are looking for a Head of Purchasing to manage procurement activities for our client based just north of Cambridge. Travel will be required for this role so you will need to have a full, clean driving licence and own transport.
Responsibilities:
* Define supply chain strategy
* Identify, select and approve new suppliers
* Negotiate / establish contractual agreements
* Cost reduction targets
* Stock ordering / lean inventory management / forecasting
* Ensure materials are delivered in time to support customer demand
* Escalation path for purchasing / supplier issues
* Continuous improvement activities
* Cost reduction and quality improvement initiatives
* New product introduction
Requirements:
* Degree in a relevant field
* MCIPS
* Extensive supply chain experience within electronics, telecommunications or consumer goods
* Management of complex global supplier / customer relationships
* Team management experience.
* Excellent IT skills, competent using Microsoft Excel and Dynamics AX
* Experience of offshore contract manufacturing management
* Ability to influence at senior level
