About The Role:

As our Returns Operative, you will ensure that the depot always runs smoothly and you will work very closely with our Drivers as they return to the Depot, dealing with any issues that might arise.

Our Returns Operative will provide on-going support to our Drivers making sure that all deliveries throughout the day are completed, on time, every time, whilst remaining legally compliant with Transport legislation and Working Time Directives.

  • Salary: £12.00 per hour / £25,116.00 per annum
  • Hours: 4 on 4 off, 9:00am-9:00pm (40.25 hours per week)
  • Job Type: Full time and permanent contract
  • Location: Unit 1, Middleton Avenue, Strutherhill Industrial Estate, Larkhall, ML9 2UN

You will:

  • Debrief returning vehicles.
  • Report any defects, damages, or safety issues.
  • Communicate with Drivers regarding the daily runs and any issues that may occur
  • Assist with loading and unloading of vehicles
  • Download returns sheets and some other admin duties.
  • Update Daily statistics regarding the depot

A Few Things About You:

  • An understanding of transport legislation and logistics operation
  • Able to build good relationships with people even when under pressure
  • React to problems promptly
  • Strong communication skills - both verbal and written
  • Competent use of Microsoft, particularly Excel
  • Able to make decisions in the absence of the Depot Manager to drive performance and service
  • Be confident to challenge vehicle issues with our drivers
