Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (DDSL)

Salary: Starting at £28,875 per annum and increases after a 6 month probationary period.

This is an exciting new opportunity for an experienced Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (DDSL).

EDClass is committed to safeguarding the welfare of children and young people. To be successful in this role, you must be eligible to receive a DBS check that is relevant to the post.

Main Responsibilities; 

  • Deal with Questionnaire Alerts ensuring processes and policies are adhered to
  • Deal with Safeguarding Alerts ensuring processes and policies are adhered to
  • Liaise with the Teaching Team and Account Managers with regards to safeguarding alerts, whilst also being responsible for handling and reporting child and vulnerable adult protection issues
  • For major safeguarding incidents, liaise with the Senior DSL and communicate the situation, so relevant authorities can be contacted by the Senior DSL if required
  • Update Zoho CRM timely and accurately with regards to any alerts
  •  Conduct EDSupport chat checks on a weekly basis, to ensure any safeguarding concern has not been missed.
  • Complete Safeguarding Incident Report Forms for major safeguarding incidents. Forms to be completed timely, accurately and giving a true account of what has happened. Ensure that completed Safeguarding Incident Report Forms are uploaded to Zoho Work Drive. Safeguarding Incident Report Forms must be completed the same day
  • Create and maintain relationships with commissioning schools’ DSLs
  • Deal with alerts highlighted in Marking i.e. bad language
  • Update and send a weekly report with regards to relationships with schools to the Customer Service Manager, DSL and the Safeguarding Trustee
  • Update and send a weekly report of all Safeguarding Incident Report Forms completed to the Customer Service Manager, DSL and the Safeguarding Trustee
  • Monitor and evaluate the Questionnaire and Safeguarding Alerts dashboard in Zoho
  • Carry out any other duties commensurate to the needs of the business, or as requested by your Line Manager or Senior Leadership Team

Qualifications & Knowledge required for this role;

English and Maths GCSE A*-C or equivalent – Essential

A minimum of a year’s experience in a safeguarding role – Essential

Confident in using ICT for a range of purposes – Essential

DSL Safeguarding qualification (Level 3) – Essential

Advanced safeguarding certificate – Desirable

Multi-agency safeguarding/child protection practice experience within a statutory agency setting – Essential

Experience in working with children, vulnerable learners, young people and adults at risk – Essential

Strong knowledge and understanding of safeguarding legislation (KCSIE 2023) – Essential

Sound basic knowledge of SEN Code of Practice – Essential

Knowledge and understanding of Ofsted stages and grading, mental health, EHCP, CAHMS and SEND – Essential
