Financial Controller - Launceston / Hybrid - Circa: £55,000

Trial Balance Consulting are delighted to have been reengaged by a long standing client, a highly successful and rapidly growing specialist services business that benefits from multiple income streams. The company boasts a superb track record of employee retention and development, putting their people at the forefront of everything they do. They have tasked us with sourcing a Financial Controller for the business, an interesting and broad opportunity which will really push the buttons of an analytically focussed and outgoing accountant who enjoys producing detailed financial performance reports. The role is offered as a full time, permanent contract and the successful candidate will benefit from a very flexible working schedule and generous hybrid working arrangement (further details to be discussed with shortlisted applicants).

Working closely alongside a highly experienced and supportive Finance Director, the FC will enjoy a particularly broad role and hold a pivotal position in a mid-sized finance team. The FC will also work closely with the senior management team outside of finance as well as many of the company’s key clients. Key responsibilities to include:

- Lead the day-to-day financial operations and controls of the business, ensuring that transactions are correctly posted to the company’s digital accounting platforms

- Manage, mentor and develop a team of transactional finance staff

- Play a key role in monitoring, analysing and reporting on cashflow position and external projects

- Production of high quality management information and financial reports with commentary for senior management team and investors

- Ensure compliant and timely financial reporting standards are upheld

- Work closely with the Finance Director on a range of new and ongoing accounting projects

- Ensure that all relevant project documentation and contracts are maintained

- Company secretarial duties as required

- Assist in year-end procedures and annual audit

For this particularly visible role we seek a confident and detail orientated individual, ideally operating at FC/FM level or as a senior Management/Financial Accounting with a particular passion for high quality reporting. The successful candidate will probably (but not essentially), hold a professional qualification (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) and will ideally possess some exposure to financial modelling and an understanding of external investments. Experience of managing a small team and influencing department heads outside of finance would be particularly relevant to this role, as would a good range of IT competencies (bespoke accounting platforms and general MS office experience).
