Mechanical EngineerBased in: LauncestonThe expected shift for this role is
  • Monday – Friday. Typically 5am – 2pm based on a 42.5 hour week at £15.75p/hr  
  • Call outs are paid at an overtime rate with minimum payment of 3 hours x 1.5 OT rate, or 3 hours x 2 OT rate if called out on a Sunday. Call out is generally one week in 4/5 
About our Client:They are an established and experienced business dealing in the treatment and processing of sheep fleeces and skins used in the production of clothing and home furnishings.  What is the purpose of the Mechanical Engineer?The Mechanical Engineer ensures plant equipment operates and functions correctly by performing regular maintenance and repairs. They use their proven mechanical knowledge to maintain and support both machinery and building infrastructure. Daily documentation of maintenance activities is crucial for record-keeping and tracking performance. The role involves continuously developing strategies to improve quality, reduce costs, and enhance safety. What are the responsibilities of the Mechanical Engineer?
  • Ensuring plant equipment is operating and functioning correctly
  • Proven mechanical knowledge
  • Building maintenance.
  • Stainless Steel fabrication skills
  • Maintaining equipment on a daily basis to ensure it is fit for its intended purpose
  • Continually developing to improve operations to drive improvements in quality, cost and safety.
  • Assisting production with machinery problems and setups, providing relevant training when appropriate
  • Completing daily maintenance check sheets and job cards
  • TIG Welding/fabrication an advantage
What qualifications and experience will you need as the Mechanical Engineer?
  • Proven experience as a Mechanical Engineer in a similar role.
  • Excellent organisational skills with ability to plan workloads effectively to meet deadlines.
  • Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Attention to detail, commitment and the ability to accept responsibility are key in this role.
  • Will be committed to working within the Company Mission, Vision & Values.
  • Food industry experience is advantageous.
  • Comfortable working at height.
