An exciting opportunity for a senior project account to join a global engineering consultancy specializing in advanced propulsion systems and related technologies.

The Senior Project Accountant will play a key role in managing financial operations and supporting decision-making within a dynamic, growing engineering consultancy. Reporting to the Finance Director, this role involves overseeing budgets, project accounting, and financial reporting across multiple global entities (US, UK, India).

You'll lead a small finance team, enhance internal processes, and provide valuable insights to the leadership team, contributing directly to the company's success.

Responsibilities

  • Own the annual budgets and quarterly forecasting process
  • Prepare monthly management and project accounts (US, UK, India)
  • Consolidate and report on three separate P&Ls monthly
  • Oversee and improve financial databases (e.g., projects, timesheets)
  • Attend monthly project work-in-progress (WIP) meetings
  • Take ownership of project accounting
  • Support business development and progression initiatives
  • Line manage three team members in the finance team
  • Ensure effective internal finance resource use
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, clients, and stakeholders
  • Act as a role model for company values and professional standards
  • Adapt to the needs of a growing business

Requirements

  • Part-qualified, qualified, or qualified by experience (QBE) in CIMA
  • Strong understanding of project accounting
  • Experience in a consultancy or similar project-based business
  • High proficiency in Excel (including VBA programming)
  • Ability to interact with all staff levels, including engineers

Desirable skills (not essential)

  • SQL knowledge
  • Experience with Sage 200
