Join a supportive accounting firm as a VAT Assistant Manager. This role is ideal for someone with a strong background in VAT compliance and technical knowledge, looking to manage and oversee VAT processes efficiently and effectively.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Prepare and review VAT returns to ensure accuracy and compliance with regulations.
  • Manage the timely filing of VAT returns to HMRC each month.
  • Review VAT returns prepared by other team members, ensuring high standards of accuracy and compliance.
  • Utilise accounting/compliance software platforms to streamline VAT processes.
  • Manage a large and varied client portfolio, ensuring all client needs are met and maintained to high standards.
  • Monitor VAT workflow across the client base to ensure efficient handling of tasks and deadlines.
  • Provide guidance and advice on VAT issues to internal staff, enhancing team knowledge and expertise.
  • Handle any ad hoc tasks related to VAT as required.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Significant understanding of and previous experience with VAT compliance.
  • Good knowledge of VAT technical areas essential for effective management and problem-solving.
  • Experience in using accounting/compliance software platforms.
  • Proven ability to manage a large and varied client portfolio.
  • Strong organisational skills to oversee VAT workflow and ensure compliance with deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills to provide effective guidance and support to team members.
