Our Client, a privately owned firm who offer independent financial advice to both corporate and private clients, currently have an opportunity for a Mortgage Adviser to join their team. The Mortgage Advisor will work with clients, assisting both residential and commercial clients in finding and applying for the most suitable mortgage products to finance their property purchases. The Mortgage Adviser will provide expert advice on mortgage options, guiding clients through the application process, and ensuring they understand the financial products they are considering.
Key Responsibilities:
- Meet with clients to understand their financial situation, goals, and needs.
- Provide professional advice on available mortgage options, including fixed-rate, variable-rate, buy-to-let, and government schemes.
- Help clients select the most suitable mortgage product based on their budget and preferences.
- Guide clients through the mortgage application process.
- Complete and submit mortgage applications on behalf of clients to lenders.
- Ensure all necessary documentation is gathered and submitted, such as income statements, credit histories, and property details.
- Stay up-to-date with market trends, new products, and lending criteria.
- Research and compare different lenders’ products to find the best options for clients.
- Ensure all advice and transactions comply with financial regulations, including those set out by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) or other regulatory bodies.
- Provide clear, written records of advice given to clients, maintaining full transparency.
- Keep clients informed about the progress of their application.
- Answer any questions or concerns clients may have throughout the mortgage process.
- Follow up with clients post-application to ensure satisfaction and offer additional services if needed.
- Build relationships with estate agents, financial advisers, and other professionals to generate leads and referrals.
- Attend networking events to stay connected with industry professionals and expand the client base.
- Offer advice on how to improve credit scores, saving for deposits, or making financial decisions related to homeownership.
- Provide guidance on remortgaging and managing existing mortgage products.
- Keep up to date with regulatory developments and maintain CPD records to evidence this.
Experience and Skills:
- In-depth knowledge of mortgage products, the housing market, and related regulations.
- Communication skills to clearly explain complex financial concepts to clients.
- Negotiation skills to secure the best terms for clients.
- Attention to detail to ensure all applications are completed accurately and in compliance with regulations.
