Contract Type: Freelance - 12 Months
Rates - Inside IR35 - 420 - 450 per day
Job Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated Section Engineer to join our team on the HS2 M42-M6 Motorway Link Viaducts (East) project in Water Orton. This is a key role within the construction team, responsible for ensuring the successful delivery of critical structural works, including viaducts, bridges, and associated infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the engineering control, setting out, and quality assurance for key elements of the viaducts.
- Ensure that works are delivered in accordance with design specifications, method statements, and safety regulations.
- Coordinate site activities, liaising with site teams, subcontractors, and stakeholders to ensure efficient project delivery.
- Monitor progress against the construction programme and proactively address any engineering challenges.
- Carry out inspections and testing, ensuring compliance with HS2 technical standards and project specifications.
- Support the Site Engineers and Project Manager in maintaining accurate records, reports, and risk assessments.
- Promote and enforce health, safety, and environmental best practices on-site.
- Work closely with the commercial team to manage materials, costs, and subcontractor performance.
- Contribute to continuous improvement and innovation in engineering processes.
Requirements
- Degree or HNC in Civil Engineering or a related field.
- Proven experience in heavy civil engineering and structures, particularly on large infrastructure projects.
- Strong knowledge of bridge, viaduct, and concrete structures.
- Proficiency in engineering surveying, setting out, and CAD software.
- CSCS Card (Essential).
- SMSTS or SSSTS certification (Preferred).
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure.
- Strong communication and leadership skills to coordinate teams effectively.
