Job Overview


We are seeking a highly motivated Section Engineer to join our team on the HS2 M42-M6 Motorway Link Viaducts (East) project in Water Orton. This is a key role within the construction team, responsible for ensuring the successful delivery of critical structural works, including viaducts, bridges, and associated infrastructure.



Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the engineering control, setting out, and quality assurance for key elements of the viaducts.
  • Ensure that works are delivered in accordance with design specifications, method statements, and safety regulations.
  • Coordinate site activities, liaising with site teams, subcontractors, and stakeholders to ensure efficient project delivery.
  • Monitor progress against the construction programme and proactively address any engineering challenges.
  • Carry out inspections and testing, ensuring compliance with HS2 technical standards and project specifications.
  • Support the Site Engineers and Project Manager in maintaining accurate records, reports, and risk assessments.
  • Promote and enforce health, safety, and environmental best practices on-site.
  • Work closely with the commercial team to manage materials, costs, and subcontractor performance.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement and innovation in engineering processes.


Requirements

  • Degree or HNC in Civil Engineering or a related field.
  • Proven experience in heavy civil engineering and structures, particularly on large infrastructure projects.
  • Strong knowledge of bridge, viaduct, and concrete structures.
  • Proficiency in engineering surveying, setting out, and CAD software.
  • CSCS Card (Essential).
  • SMSTS or SSSTS certification (Preferred).
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills to coordinate teams effectively.
