Role: Assistant Buyer
Contract Type: 12 Months Fixed Term Contract (Maternity Cover)
Location: CV32 7NQ (working onsite)
Hours: 38hpw (Monday- Thursday 08:00-17:00 and Friday 08:00-12:00)

Thwaites are the leading independent manufacturer of site dumpers based near Leamington Spa. As a privately owned manufacturing business we invest for the long term in employees.

Job Role:

  • Purchase goods, materials, components, or services in line with specified cost, quality and delivery targets
  • Support the purchasing function and other relevant departments and communicate any supply problems which may impact on business operations
  • Prepare reports and updates as and when required
  • Prepare and raise purchase orders and order schedules
  • Build, maintain and manage supplier relationships and keep up good communications
  • Ensure that a professional and consistent approach is taken in relation to all supplier relationships
  • To work within the guidelines of the companys health and safety policy.
  • To be flexible, willing and have a can-do attitude
  • Be civil, courteous, and co-operative to colleagues, management, and suppliers.

Skills and experience required:

  • Keen attention to detail and accuracy
  • Familiarity with an integrated Material Requirement Planning (MRP) system would be beneficial but not essential
  • Good communication, interpersonal and influencing skills. Tenacious but pragmatic.
  • Able to build and maintain effective and productive relationships with staff, Management, and suppliers
  • Able to manage time effectively, prioritise tasks and achieve set targets
  • Be capable of working independently as well as within a team
  • Excellent keyboard skills with a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • A flexible and positive attitude.
  • Procurement department experience highly desirable.
