Freelance Sub-Agent - HS2 (Warwickshire) - 6-Month Contract (Inside IR35)

We are seeking an experienced Sub-Agent to join a dynamic team working on the HS2 (High-Speed Rail 2) project in Warwickshire. This is a freelance position on a 6-month contract, offering the opportunity to work on one of the UK's most significant infrastructure projects. HS2 experience is highly advantageous for this role.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the management and supervision of on-site construction activities, ensuring that works are executed safely, to quality standards, and in line with project specifications.
  • Coordinate with the Site Agent and other project stakeholders to ensure that daily operations run smoothly and that all work is carried out in accordance with design drawings, risk assessments, and method statements.
  • Manage subcontractors, materials, and labour on-site, ensuring that progress meets project milestones.
  • Monitor and report on project performance, identifying and resolving any issues that may affect delivery timelines or quality.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations and promote best practices on-site.
  • Assist in planning and coordination of temporary works, logistics, and other site activities.
  • Prepare and maintain site records, including daily diaries, progress reports, and quality control documentation.
  • Attend regular progress and coordination meetings with the client, designers, and other key stakeholders.
  • Ensure that all site activities adhere to HS2 guidelines, including sustainability and environmental considerations.


Required Qualifications and Experience:

  • Proven experience working as a Sub-Agent, Section Engineer, or similar role within the civil engineering or rail infrastructure sector.
  • HS2 project experience is highly desirable.
  • Strong understanding of construction processes, standards, and health & safety regulations.
  • Experience working under NEC contracts is beneficial.
  • Ability to manage and coordinate multiple subcontractors and internal teams.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • CSCS card (essential), SMSTS/SSSTS, and First Aid qualifications are highly desirable.
  • A degree in civil engineering or a related field is preferred.
