Details of the HR Manager Role:

We are seeking an experienced HR Manager to take ownership of all HR functions within the charity, ensuring effective operations and seamless delivery. As a pivotal role within Life, you will lead all employee journeys, creating high levels of engagement and positive experiences.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as the first point of contact for HR queries and provide guidance to line managers
  • Ensure all HR matters are handled fairly, consistently, timely, and in line with legal requirements
  • Lead the collation of monthly payroll and ensure its accuracy
  • Manage HR systems and databases to process employee data in line with GDPR regulations
  • Oversee the recruitment and onboarding process, ensuring an excellent experience for candidates and hiring managers
  • Identify gaps in HR processes and develop new processes for efficiency
  • Manage all aspects of the employee lifecycle (recruitment, onboarding, offboarding)
  • Provide support for employee relation cases, including absence, performance management, disciplinary, and grievance cases
  • Contribute to the development of Life’s induction framework and oversee the induction process
  • Identify learning and development needs and create cost-effective learning plans
  • Support the development and delivery of an effective performance management framework
  • Review staff handbook and charity HR policies and procedures regularly

About You:

The ideal candidate will bring demonstrable experience in developing a high-quality UK-based HR function and a strong knowledge of HR best practices.

Key Qualities:

  • HR certification (e.g., CIPD Level 5 qualification)
  • Strong knowledge of employment laws and regulations
  • Excellent administrative and data management skills
  • Effective written and oral communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and collaborative work ethic
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to work on own initiative and manage workload effectively
  • Experience in a dynamic, fast-changing environment is desirable
