This pivotal role ensures the client's decision-making bodies operate efficiently and in line with statutory requirements. The role also provides essential support on data protection, freedom of information, and complaint processes.Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage Council meetings, including agenda preparation, report checking, and producing accurate minutes.
  • Act as an advisor to Councillors, trade unions, and attendees on Council procedures and relevant legislation.
  • Maintain and publish public registers, such as Declarations of Interest and gifts/hospitality, in compliance with legislation.
  • Liaise with elected members, service areas, and conduct research for task groups as required.
  • Plan and conduct meetings, including pre-agenda briefings with Chairs and Lead Officers.
  • Support members in their advocacy roles for their communities and manage external appointments.
  • Develop and maintain procedures for public meetings.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Minimum of two years' experience in committee or democratic administration within local government.
  • Certificate or Diploma from the Association of Democratic Services Officers.
  • 3 A-Levels (A-C) including Maths and English, and a BTEC HND or equivalent in Business or Public Administration.
  • Ability to interpret local government law and advise on Access to Information legislation.
  • Excellent oral, written, and IT skills.
  • Ability to work independently, meet tight deadlines, and cope under pressure.
