As an Assistant Buyer, you will play a key role in the procurement team, ensuring the timely purchase of materials, components, and services to meet production schedules and cost targets. You’ll work closely with suppliers, maintaining strong relationships while negotiating the best terms for quality and delivery.

Key Responsibilities - Assistant Buyer

• Procure goods, materials, and services in line with company requirements.• Manage supplier relationships, ensuring consistency, quality, and value.• Prepare purchase orders and maintain accurate order schedules.• Monitor supply chains, addressing potential risks to production schedules.• Communicate effectively with internal departments and external suppliers.• Contribute to cost-saving initiatives while maintaining high quality standards.

What We’re Looking For

• Procurement, Purchasing or Buying experience within a manufacturing or engineering environment.• Strong negotiation and communication skills.• Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with suppliers and colleagues.• Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.• Familiarity with MRP systems is an advantage.• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.• A flexible and proactive approach to workload management.

The Package - Assistant Buyer

• Contract: 12-month fixed-term maternity cover.• Hours: Monday – Thursday: 8am – 5pm, Friday: 8am – 12pm (38 hours per week).• Location: Based within a well-established manufacturing facility.• Salary/Holidays: £30k per annum, 26 days holiday plus Bank holidays.
