Role: Welder

Hours: 38hpw, Monday- Thursday 08:00-17:00 and Friday 08:00-12:00
The quality of our welded components is one of the key features of all our products. We manufacture and weld components ranging in thickness between 2mm and 15mm using Mig welding techniques.
This position reports to the Manufacturing Supervisor via the Welding Shop Team leaders. Welders are responsible for the welding of steel components using Mig welding process.
Job Description
- Using Mig welding process to assemble fabricated steel products in an efficient manner to maximise production
- Operates equipment in a safe manner and reports hazards associated with the equipment or its operations to the Welding Shop Supervisor
- Produces strong penetrated welds that are smooth, non-porous and consistent
- Follows required procedures and uses appropriate jigs and fixtures to assist in the assembly process
- Maintains and produces a level of output that will minimise production delays
- Cleans and maintains an orderly work area
- Communicates effectively with other workers in the process workflow
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of Mig welding process and equipment
- Ability to weld vertical, flat with good penetration and a high-quality appearance
- Ability to read engineering drawings
- Physical ability to work and weld in awkward positions such as kneeling, lying down and overhead
- Ability to climb and work from a ladder or platform
- Ability to operate hand-held tools, sanders and grinders
- Experience in the using overhead cranes
- Not essential, but the ability to use oxy acetylene cutting equipment
Experience and Qualifications
- It is essential that you have MIG welding experience in mild steel
- Welding and fabrication apprenticeship preferred
- Good communication skills
- An understanding of SOPs
- Good time management
- Experience of working in a production led environment
