Sonic Summary

info
  • You'll be joining a busy Planning and Rural team, focusing on ecological surveys, biodiversity net gain calculations, and habitat assessments.
  • The position requires an MCIEEM-qualified ecologist with at least three years of experience, or two years with the right skills.
  • Strong report-writing skills are essential, as you'll contribute to planning applications and ecological impact assessments.
  • The role offers a competitive and flexible salary based on experience, along with mileage reimbursement for fieldwork.
  • You'll be part of a respected property consultancy that values collaboration and offers great career progression opportunities.

What will I be doing?

You'll be jumping into a busy and growing Planning and Rural team, working on ecological surveys, biodiversity net gain (BNG) calculations, and habitat assessments. Your days will be filled with walkovers, protected species surveys (bats, newts, owls-you name it), and baseline ecological assessments. You'll also be advising clients-whether it's farmers, developers, or landowners-on how best to boost biodiversity and navigate planning regulations. If you're the type who loves problem-solving and working in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment, this is a great place to be!

What do I need?

We're looking for an MCIEEM-qualified ecologist with at least three years' experience (though if you've got two solid years and the right skills, we'd still love to hear from you). You'll need to be familiar with Natural England's Biodiversity Metric 4.0-knowing how to find the best biodiversity opportunities and develop strategies for sustainable land management. Strong report-writing skills are a must, since you'll be contributing to planning applications and ecological impact assessments. Oh, and a full driving licence and access to a car-because fieldwork is a key part of the role (but don't worry, mileage is reimbursed at 45p per mile).

Who for?

This is for a respected property consultancy that supports clients with planning, surveying, and ecological expertise. They're expanding their in-house ecology team due to increasing demand and government-driven changes to BNG regulations. You'd be joining a tight-knit team that values local knowledge and collaboration, helping shape some pretty exciting conservation and land-use projects.

What's next?

If this sounds like the kind of role where you could really make an impact, my client wants to hear from you! They're keen to find the right person soon but will be flexible for the perfect candidate. Here's what's on offer:

  • Competitive, flexible salary DOE + mileage reimbursement
  • Parking permit provided for town car park
  • Great career progression opportunities within an established consultancy
  • A supportive, multidisciplinary work environment
