Job Summary:

I'm looking for a meticulous and client-focused Bookkeeper to join our team a super client. You will be responsible for managing the bookkeeping for a varied portfolio of clients across different industries, ensuring their financial records are accurate and up-to-date. This role will also involve handling VAT returns, bank reconciliations, and working with multiple currencies. You will have the opportunity to build strong relationships with clients and use a variety of accounting software, including Sage, Xero, and QuickBooks.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Client Bookkeeping:

    • Maintain accurate financial records for a diverse portfolio of clients, ensuring transactions are properly recorded and classified.
    • Process sales and purchase invoices, reconcile accounts, and maintain up-to-date ledgers.
  • VAT Returns:

    • Prepare and submit VAT returns for clients, ensuring compliance with HMRC regulations.
    • Monitor VAT deadlines and ensure timely submission of all relevant documentation.
  • Bank Reconciliations:

    • Perform regular bank reconciliations, ensuring all transactions are recorded accurately.
    • Identify and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
  • Multi-Currency Transactions:

    • Work with multiple currencies, handling multi-currency transactions and reconciling foreign accounts.
    • Ensure accurate recording of exchange rates and foreign currency gains/losses.
  • Client Relationships:

    • Answer client queries and provide guidance on bookkeeping and financial matters.
    • Build strong relationships with clients to better understand their financial needs and deliver a tailored service.
  • Accounting Software:

    • Use a range of accounting software, including Sage, Xero, QuickBooks, and others, to manage client accounts efficiently.
    • Set up new clients on appropriate accounting systems and ensure smooth data migration when needed.
Qualifications & Experience:
  • AAT Level 3 or 4 (or equivalent bookkeeping qualification) is preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience in bookkeeping, ideally within an accountancy firm or managing multiple clients.
  • Experience with VAT returns, bank reconciliations, and multi-currency transactions.
  • Proficiency in using accounting software such as Sage, Xero, and QuickBooks.
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent communication skills.
Desirable Attributes:
  • Experience working with high-net-worth individuals or complex client structures.
  • Knowledge of Making Tax Digital (MTD) requirements.
  • Ability to manage multiple clients and deadlines efficiently.
