Our client is a large local government organisation and looking for an experienced Building Inspector to join their team

This is initially a 3 month contract which may be extended for the right applicant

You will

To deal with all matters relating to the checking of Building Regulation applications, and all relevant legislation and correspondence.

To liaise with all other Authorities and Service Units in relation to Building Regulation applications and any other matters arising.

To carry out the inspection of works on site to ensure compliance with approved Building Regulation and Town Planning applications, the Building Regulations and statutory requirements and planning conditions. To maintain precise records of such inspections.

To discuss and check structural calculations and details up to a reasonable level.

To deal with discussions, preparation of reports and drafting of notices regarding applications submitted under the building regulations and associated legislation.

To undertake the inspection of premises, the serving of notices and any correspondence or discussion arising under Section 32 of the Building Act 1984.

To deal with all aspects, correspondence, reports, etc. concerning Building Regulation infringements and unauthorised works.

To advise and consult with the public, members, architects, builders, engineers, etc. at all levels on Building Regulation matters.

To take all necessary action relating to dangerous structures, both during and out of normal working hours, together with preparation of reports, sketches, photographs, correspondence and follow-up procedures.

To deal with and control all aspects relating to demolitions.

To liaise with Planning Enforcement Officers on any potential, planning infringements discovered on site, unauthorised work requiring planning permission, and any other matters that may arise relating to the Planning Acts.

To check on site any planning conditions attached to a planning permission and the reporting to the appropriate Planning Officer of any infringement or related matters.
